Race Report: Maia at the Transpyrenees

Race Report: Maia at the Transpyrenees

The Transpyrenees is a huge feat, even for the most seasoned endurance racers. With many DNFs, it’s a gruelling and unpredictable challenge. Breathtaking landscapes and unbelievable climbs are always guaranteed, but good weather is not. This is endurance racing at its finest.

Armed with her trusty Pressure ADR, Maia was one of the brave adventurers who successfully conquered the Transpyrenees. We caught up with her post-race to hear all about this massive achievement.

Words below from Maia.

This was my first big race of more than 1000 km. An adventure that went through the Pyrenees, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea. Crossing unforgettable landscapes and mountain passes that reach the sky.

The Transpyrenees is a race which demands a lot from your mind and body. The race passes through the Pyrenees from San Sebastian to Llanca, Cataluna. Within the route there are 38 important climbs, including the Tourmalet, where the Tour de France passed this year.

My goal this year was to do the race continuously but unfortunately the rain made me change my plan and take the race more calmly. Anyway, I’m happy that it turned out like this because I was able to enjoy every kilometre and meet many great people.

In total it took me 5 days, 70 hours of cycling over 1036 km. One thing that really stood out is my Cinelli Pressure ADR, it’s the perfect choice for a race of this calibre. A super light bike, strong and perfect to put bags and carry everything you need for a race like this. I 100% recommend it.

I am very proud to have finished and to have tackled many different challenges, to reach the finish line was an amazing feeling. It’s a wonderful race and I really recommend it.

It’s a huge triumph to have completed the race and finish in the top 5 women. This type of race gives you a great connection to yourself and with the bike, it gives you strength to keep going in the face of adversity.

I’m so grateful for all of the support from the cycling community, it really is an extra push to continue in these huge adventures.
