Race Report: Liv at Policrit

Race Report: Liv at Policrit

A few weeks ago, Milano witnessed its first official Policrit, a high-intensity road crit set in the gritty streets of Milano’s Bovisa area, where the world-famous Red Hook Crit once was.

Friend of Cinelli and member of RPM Souplesse, Liv, travelled all the way from Belgium, ready for full gas. To save Liv from the rigmarole of travelling with her bike we equipped her with the race-ready Pressure ADR.

Read on for all the details from Liv.

"Policrit was honestly a super spontaneous trip, made possible by a bunch of friends. That being said, I have been training hard for other goals. I knew, because of this training, that I was pretty dialled in to go hard. I also knew the course because of an evening recon with friends.

I didn’t know how strong the other girls were though, so qualifying was my chance to see how they rode and spot who was strong in the pack.

In the finals, I wanted to push a relatively hard pace from the start on so that a breakaway was going to be difficult. I guess this was not what the other girls had in mind, because before I knew it, I was alone in front. I decided to roll with it and give it my all.

After some confusion with warning signals, a red flag on the course that was temporary, the gap became so small that I decided against pushing it further. I placed myself back in the bunch and tried to catch my breath.

Leading up to the final minutes, nerves were building. I almost crashed, dropped the chain, managed to get it back on while riding, got back in the group and tried to position myself again for the final sprint.

I knew from the qualifiers that one girl had a really strong sprint. So that’s the wheel I went for. We started sprinting, I needed to brace myself to not get blocked in against the barriers but I managed it and I took first place!

Winning was above expectations and I’m honestly so glad I was riding the Cinelli Pressure ADR. The bike felt nimble, accelerated fast, and felt in control the entire way through. Going fast is that much nicer when you feel comfortable and confident on the bike!"
